Graham Thorpe made 100 Test appearances for England
Surrey batsman Matthew Spriegel feels he will learn a lot from his county's new batting coach Graham Thorpe.
Thorpe, 39, made 100 Test appearances for England and joined the coaching staff at the Brit Oval in the winter, to the delight of Spriegel.
Spriegel, 21, told BBC London 94.9: "It's amazing - getting advice off him is really beneficial."
"The first time I had a net with him a couple of weeks ago, I was awestruck when he walked in."
Epsom-born Spriegel was one of a number of youngsters offered new deals by Surrey at the end of last season.
The left-hander has made 15 first-class appearances, averaging 22.52, with a top score of 51 - the only time he's registered a half-century.
On Thorpe's coaching style, he added: "I've spent most of my time in the net just talking to him. We'd spend 25-30 minutes talking at the end of the session just about general batting.
"Nothing too specific, just about his experiences, what he would look to do in that position.
"It's brilliant to speak to someone that's played at that level because obviously that's what all the young batsmen are aspiring to do."
