Rahul Dravid will try out the Twenty20 format for the Asian team |
Surrey CCC have announced an all-star line-up for a Twenty20 game at The Oval on 20 June in aid of disaster relief. Rahul Dravid, Muttiah Muralitharan, Anil Kumble and Chaminda Vaas will all be part of an Asian side which will take on an International XI.
The opposition will include Shane Warne, Brian Lara, Shaun Pollock, Stephen Fleming and Graham Thorpe.
Surrey hope to raise 1m to rebuild a tsunami-hit Sri Lankan village and help other areas hit by natural disasters.
Cash will go to Grenada, rebuilding after the hurricanes in 2004 and also be bput aside in order to help if their are natural disasters in cricket-playing nations in future.
"Having recently been to Sri Lanka I am acutely aware of not only the need to help those affected by the tsunami, but also to ensure that the money given is spent for the benefit of those who need it most," said the club's chief executive Paul Sheldon.
The tsunami disaster occurred on Boxing Day last year and a dozen countries in both Asia and Africa were affected.
At least 126,000 people were killed and another 37,000 are missing.
An International Cricket Council-backed tsunami appeal match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in January raised more than 6m and was followed by a three-match series staged by New Zealand Cricket.
Six days prior to the game at The Oval, an MCC side will play an International XI in a 50-over fixture at Lord's.
