Ireland teenage spinner George Dockrell believes playing first-class cricket with Somerset for the next two years will improve him as a player.

The 18-year-old, who played for his country in the ICC World Twenty20 in May, joined Somerset in July.

Dockrell told the club website: "This is a great place for me to improve my cricket, I seem to have slipped in pretty well and feel at home.

"It's great to be here and I have put in a lot of hard work."

Dockrell took 3-16 against West Indies in this year's World Twenty20 and also put in an impressive performance against England.

The spinner has also played for Somerset's second XI, but is yet to play first-class cricket for the Taunton-based club.

"I would like to try and break into the Somerset one-day side, and if I get that chance then I will take it and prove I can hold a spot in the team," he said.
