De Bruyn signed for Somerset this year as a Kolpak player |
South African all-rounder Zander de Bruyn could earn a new deal at Somerset if he continues his good form, according to captain Justin Langer. De Bruyn has scored back-to-back Championship hundreds and is averaging 48 in first-class cricket this season. "I'm sure the club will be looking at him closely in the next few weeks," Langer told the Western Daily Press. "We are looking for the missing piece in the jigsaw and he is showing he could be the man long-term." | He works really hard on his game - he loves practicing and it is nice for him to get the rewards. |
De Bruyn is now targeting a third consecutive hundred when Somerset play Kent at Taunton. His 120 at Chester-le-Street on Saturday helped Somerset recover from a difficult start. "To get a hundred away from Taunton against a Test attack is a huge confidence booster for the club and us," Langer added. "He works really hard on his game - he loves practicing and it is nice for him to get the rewards."
