County Championship D1, Riverside, day two (close): Durham v Somerset 324-6
Zander de Bruyn scored a second successive County Championship century to help Somerset to 324-6 against Durham at Chester-le-Street. The South African, who made 103 in the defeat by Yorkshire, made 120 on the second day after day one had been washed out by the weather. Somerset had chosen to bat but slipped to 42-3 after Steve Harmison took three wickets in six balls. De Bruyn was almost Harmison's fourth victim but survived an LBW appeal. He went on to make his century off 152 balls and shared a stand of 97 with James Hildreth as the duo fortified the Somerset innings. Hildreth had been badly missed on 42 by Plunkett at deep mid-on off Paul Wiseman, but top-edged a pull off Graham Onions to mid-wicket on 54. De Bruyn fell to off-spinner but Peter Trego continued to build on his good work as he finished on 67 not out at stumps.
