Despite enduring one of their worst seasons ever, Somerset County Cricket Club will announce what they call a "particularly healthy" trading surplus. Somerset's defeat at Leicester on Monday was their ninth in Championship Division Two and they have also been woeful in one-day competitions.
But a statement on the club's website said membership was up 15% on 2005.
It also cited good attendances and Somerset hope to use the cash to secure new players during the off-season.
Chief executive Richard Gould said: "We have had a good year financially but nobody is allowed to sit in the comfort zone, and that goes for everyone at the club."
