Scotland are due to face Zimbabwe in the ICC Intercontinental Cup

Cricket Scotland has delayed a decision on its planned controversial trip to Zimbabwe until early next week.

The Scots' board met on Wednesday, but chief executive Roddy Smith said it was still in talks with other bodies.

The Scots are awaiting advice from the UK Government, which may warn against travelling to the African country.

That could force the Saltires to pull out of the ICC Intercontinental Cup match, which could in turn lead to them being punished by the parent body.

Smith told BBC Scotland it would not announce its intentions until next Tuesday at the earliest.

Given the economic and political situation in Zimbabwe, their cricket team was originally only allowed to take part in the tournament if they played their games in a neutral country.

However, that rule has now been scrapped by the International Cricket Council.
