Scotland survived an embarrassing late wobble to secure a four wicket victory over the Netherlands in the ICC Intercontinental Cup. Needing a mere 77 from their second innings, the Scots were in trouble at just six for the loss of five wickets. However, Neill McCallum and Majid Haq both hit unbeaten 34s to steer the visitors home in Deventer. Scotland remain unbeaten in the tournament and the win takes them back to the top of the standings. At the end of day three the hosts had collapsed to 168 for eight in their second innings, 13 runs behind Scotland's 391. But New Zealand-born Peter Borren made it from 52 to 109 and Pieter Seelaar chipped in with 30 to set the visitors a modest target. Mark Jonkman then ripped the Scotland top order apart, taking five wickets in a 12 over spell as the Dutch threatened an unlikely recovery. But McCallum, who made 51 in the first innings, steadied the ship, with the assistance of Haq, who hit seven fours to reach his 34 not out in 31 balls. Matthew Parker was the pick of the Scottish bowlers, with the 20-year-old taking seven wickets over two Dutch innings as well as making 65 in Scotland's first outing with the bat. Richie Berrington continued his solid early-season form with a knock of 82 on Friday and took three wickets in the Netherlands' second innings. Having played four matches, Scotland top the ICC Intercontinental Cup table with 69 points, eight more than second-placed Afghanistan. The Dutch remain in fifth spot with 15 points from three matches. Scotland meet Afghanistan in Ayr in August and travel to meet a Zimbabwe XI in October.
