Drummond will captain Scotland against Holland |
Preston Mommsen is set for his senior Scotland debut in next week's ICC Intercontinental Cup match in Holland. The 22-year-old batsman has completed his four-year residency after moving to Scotland from South Africa. The Carlton opener hit an undefeated hundred in the Scotland Lions' recent victory over Leicestershire 2nd XI. Victory against the Dutch in Deventer would see unbeaten Scotland leapfrog Afghanistan and go back to the top of the Intercontinental Cup table. Gordon Drummond resumes the captaincy of the side from Gavin Hamilton, who sits out this format of the game - but also misses the subsequent one-day international in Rotterdam due to business commitments. Former skipper Ryan Watson and Omer Hussain are unavailable for the same reason, Dewald Nel is injured, Kyle Coetzer is on county duty with Durham, and Freddie Coleman has school exams. The 15 June one-day match will see 19-year-old Aberdeen-born all-rounder Josh Davey replace Simon Smith in the squad. Scotland head coach Peter Steindl said: "Josh is a young cricketer who has been making excellent strides forward this year. "He has scored a lot of runs in the Middlesex second team and had a few first-team opportunities. He will be a great addition to our squad."
