Watson's last-gasp wicket rescued Scotland against Uganda

Scotland snatched a thrilling super-over victory in their opening Twenty20 tri-series match against Uganda.

The Ugandans moved to within eight runs of victory with 18 balls and three wickets remaining in Nairobi.

Gavin Hamilton's return for the Scots looked like ending in defeat until his predecessor as captain Ryan Watson's last-ball wicket tied the sides on 109.

Kyle Coetzer and Jan Stander then scored 10 runs to Uganda's six during the super-over shootout.

The day began badly for Scotland when Simon Smith reported unwell, forcing Watson and Hamilton to share wicket-keeping duties at the Gymkhana club ground.

It got worse when the tourists set a below-par target for the loss of eight wickets, Stander top-scoring with 25.

Uganda looked to be cruising to victory when they reached 90 for five with five overs remaining before a spectacular late collapse, sealed by a run-out and last-ball wicket off the bowling of Watson.

Scotland continue their preparations for the upcoming ICC World Twenty20 qualifiers on Monday when they take on hosts Kenya, who they beat on Thursday to reclaim top spot in the ICC Intercontinental Cup table.
