Scotland captain Ryan Watson will feature against England |
Scotland have named a 13-man squad for next Monday's one-day international against England at The Grange. "Selection has been a difficult process with a couple of our players unfortunately missing out," said head coach Peter Steindl. "Our aim is to be competitive. But we do harbour hopes of creating an upset." England will be led by new Test and one-day skipper Kevin Pietersen, who has united the role after Michael Vaughan and Paul Collingwood resigned. Scotland skipper Ryan Watson said his players were looking forward to a match that is expected to attract a crowd of 6,000. "I'm delighted that we have available all six of our current or former county players, and we are all determined to show what we can do," said Watson. "Over the past 18 months or so, we have faced all the top Test playing nations except England, so this will be the final piece in that jigsaw." The Scots' preparations for the game against England were disrupted when torrential rain saw the one-day internationals against Kenya postponed.
Scotland squad: Ryan Watson (Forfarshire, capt); Gavin Hamilton (East Bierley), Kyle Coetzer (Durham), Navdeep Poonia (Warwickshire), Colin Smith (Aberdeenshire), Neil McCallum (Grange), Richie Berrington (Greenock), Craig Wright (Greenock), Calum MacLeod (Warwickshire), John Blain (Rotherham), Dewald Nel (Greenock), Gordon Drummond (Watsonians), Ross Lyons (Clydesdale)
