Peter Drinnen was appointed in January 2006 |
Peter Drinnen has been relieved of his duties as coach of the Scottish national team following a series of disappointing results. Drinnen reverts to his role as Cricket Scotland's technical director.
But a caretaker coaching team will be appointed before next week's quadrangular tournament in Ireland.
And there will also be interim bosses until the end of the Twenty20 World Championship in September, after which the situation will be reviewed.
Cricket Scotland has refused to comment on the reasons for the change, or how it came about.
And it also states that the 39-year-old Drinnen, who is currently on annual leave until the end of July, is not available for interview.

But there have been reports of player unrest, with several players thought to have raised objections to him staying at the helm.
Cricket Scotland chief executive Roddy Smith said in a statement: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank Peter for his work with the senior team over the last 18 months, which culminated in the team's excellent performance at the World Cricket League.
"However, given Peter's wider remit, it is felt that a change of personnel is required with the national team as we look forward to our participation in the Twenty20 World Championship, a full fixture list in 2008 and the next ICC World Cup qualifying event in 2009.
"The A-team has developed under Peter's guidance and already three or four members of this team have made the breakthrough to the national side.
"I would like to place on record my gratitude to Peter for his hard work and contribution to the development of the national side."
Scotland's results under Drinnen have been disappointing, with the eight-wicket defeat to Holland at the ICC World Cup standing out as the biggest letdown of all.
Reaching the World Cricket League final at the start of the year, when they lost to Kenya, was quickly forgotten.
Scotland returned without a point from the World Cup in the Caribbean, where Drinnen's team were routed by Australia and South Africa.
Cricket Scotland have promised "a full review of Scotland's high-performance programme" after the Twenty20 World Championship.
Drinnen, whose contract runs until December, replaced Andy Moles in similar circumstances in January 2006.
