The Scottish Saltires are back in action after a gap of nearly four weeks and Neil MacRae, Peter Steindl and Kyle Coetzer have been drafted into the 14-man squad. The Scots set off for three away games in the National Cricket League Division Two against Sussex (3 August), Hampshire (4 August) and Northamptonshire (6 August).
While Coetzer is poised to make his debut, all-rounder Ian Stanger, Fraser Watts and bowler Kevin Thomson have been dropped.
Saltires coach Tony Judd said: "Throughout this first season in the NCL we have been trying to balance our immediate needs with the longer-term development requirement which will help us with our ultimate aim, namely to reach the 2007 World Cup from the 2005 qualifying tournament.
"The important thing for us is to acquire as much experience of higher-level cricket as possible in as short a time as we can, and to spread the benefits across a wide range of our best players from all age groups.
"On this particular away trip, we look forward to providing testing and competitive opposition, and maybe even a surprise or two."
The Scots last played on 9 July and were beaten by 10 wickets when Lancashire cruised to victory at The Grange.
Having won three and lost seven of their 11 league matches, the Saltires lie eighth in the 10-team division.
Meanwhile, the Saltires will have their accommodation and travel expenses paid for the Sussex match by a local businessman.
Edinburgh-born Don Manley runs the car dealership Intaporsh, and he is forking out to help the part-timers.
