Fast bowler Darren Pattinson has signed a deal tying him to Nottinghamshire until the end of the 2012 season.

The 31-year-old first signed for Notts in 2008 after a recommendation from Victoria team-mate David Hussey.

Pattinson, who was born in Grimsby but raised in Australia, took 31 wickets as Notts became county champions in 2010.

"He's proved to be an excellent signing and is a big part of our plans in all three competitions next season," said Notts director of cricket Mick Newell.

Pattinson, who has played one Test for England against South Africa in 2008, was Notts' leading wicket-taker in the Friends Provident t20 last season with 17.

The big paceman, whose younger brother James has been named in Australia's initial 30-man squad for the World Cup, has been back down under playing for Victoria this winter alongside Notts colleague Hussey.
