Nottinghamshire bowler Ryan Sidebottom wants new deal

Nottinghamshire and England fast bowler Ryan Sidebottom says he wants to end his career at Trent Bridge.

Sidebottom, 32, is out of contract at the end of the summer and has been linked with a move to Sussex.

But he told BBC Radio Nottingham: "Clubs have come in for me, but I want to finish my career at Notts.

"There's not a deadline as such but we want to tie it up in the next month. We don't want to leave it until the end of the season."

Sidebottom, who moved to Notts from Yorkshire in 2004, has regained his England place since moving to Trent Bridge.

But the left-armer seems likely to lose his central contract at the end of the summer, having not played Test cricket since January.

That would mean that Notts are unable to keep Sidebottom on his current terms, and there are reports that his employers want a decision from him by the end of the month.

"Whether that'll be the case or not, I don't know at the minute. I'd like to get it all tied up, but we'll just have to wait and see," he said.

Notts are still hopeful that Sidebottom will sign a new deal.

Director of cricket Mick Newell said: "We want him to stay but it's up to Ryan where he wants to play for the last few years of his career."

"Obviously I want to stay at Notts, but if that's not the case I guess I'll have to go and play somewhere else," Sidebottom added.
