Seamer Ryan Sidebottom has signed a contract extension to stay with Nottinghamshire until the end of 2009. Sidebottom, 28, moved from Yorkshire in 2004 and helped Notts to a double promotion in his first season.
He then played a crucial role in their first Championship triumph in 18 years, taking 48 wickets at 22.83.
"In my opinion he's the best left-arm seamer in the country and we're very lucky to have him playing for Notts," said director of cricket Mick Newell.
"If England wanted to look for a different option in their fast bowling attack, Ryan should be at the top of their list."
