The traditional pavilion at Trent Bridge will not be affected |
Nottinghamshire has confirmed it has raised the 8.2m it needs to redevelop its Trent Bridge ground, and to increase capacity to more than 17,000. A new stand, on the Bridgford Road side of the ground, will replace West Wing and Parr Stand, and there are also plans to install permanent floodlights.
Everything should be complete for the June 2008 Test against New Zealand.
Notts chief executive Derek Brewer said: "We are now able to go ahead as planned, starting on 28 August."
Backing has come from East Midlands Development Agency and three local authorities - Rushcliffe Borough Council, Nottingham City Council and Nottinghamshire County Council.
Brewer added: "As a sporting venue of world renown, Trent Bridge is hugely important to the local economy.
"Our partners recognise the need to help us do all we can to retain Test match status in the face of stiff competition from other parts of the country."
A new administration block will be the base for match officials and will incorporate a replay screen and electronic scoreboard.
Trent Bridge has been transformed since 1998 with the creation of the award-winning Radcliffe Road and Fox Road Stands, and the county has received widespread acclaim for the way in which the improvements have been carried out.
