Notts sign Ealham
Mark Ealham
Ealham has only played for Kent at first-class level
Nottinghamshire have signed former England all-rounder Mark Ealham on a three-year deal.

The 34-year-old turned down a new contract at Kent, ending a 14-year association with the club.

Ealham said: "Notts are a big club that should be in Division One and I want to finish my career by helping them to achieve success.

"Kent offered me a new one-year deal but I feel I have three or four years of cricket left and Notts offered me a new challenge."

Notts director of cricket Mick Newell said: "Mark is a very experienced cricketer and a high-quality international who is desperate to finish his career with success.

"He will be a valuable addition in the dressing room."

It is Notts' second signing in a week after they recruited opening batsman Anurag Singh from Worcestershire.

Ealham enjoyed a long stay at Kent, but Newell believes he will prove an instant hit at Trent Bridge.

"We are trying to rebuild our team and we targeted the all-rounder area as one that needed attention," he added.

"We would have liked to sign both Dominic Cork and Mark Ealham, but we are very happy to just get Mark."

Notts were relegated to Division Two of the county championship this summer, one season after winning promotion to the top-flight.

Ealham has played 192 first-class matches, scoring 8,140 runs and taking 425 wickets.

He played eight Test matches for England between 1996 and 1998, scoring two half-centuries and claiming 17 wickets.

Ealham also played in 64 one-day internationals, most recently against Pakistan at Lord's in 2001.
