Northants fans have handed over £1,000 to help fund fast bowler Jack Brooks's trip to India for specialist coaching.

The donation from the county's supporters' club will enable Brooks to attend a master class in Chennai, run by Australian great Dennis Lillee.

"I'm hugely grateful to the supporters for donating this money to get me to India," Brooks told the club's website.

"I hope the trip will prove very beneficial to my career," added the 26-year-old Oxford-born bowler.

Brooks joined Northants in 2009 and claimed 37 first-class wickets for the county last summer.
