Peters says having the new 40-over competition so early is "confusing" |
Northants batsman Stephen Peters says next season's county cricket schedule is going to be a challenge. Northants play Leicestershire in the Championship on 9 April, and the new ECB 40 League begins on 25 April. Peters told BBC Radio Northampton: "One of the criticisms of the 50-over competition was that it was played too early in the season. "But we still seem to be playing 40-over cricket at the start, so I'm a little confused by that." He added: "The season will come around quickly. It'll be another long season but one to look forward to." Peters added. Northants will be without two of the spinners from last year, with Monty Panesar joining Sussex and Graeme White departing for Nottinghamshire. "We maybe need to recruit a spinner," said Peters. "We've still got Nicky Boje but it's disappointing to lose both of those."
