Northamptonshire coach David Capel says the club may turn to youth as they look to replace spinner Monty Panesar.

Panesar follows Graeme White out of Wantage Road, leaving the club with Nicky Boje as their sole spinner, plus academy bowler Tom Brett.

Capel told BBC Look East: "It would be foolhardy of us not to recognise that we need to recruit.

"There could be a young player within our area who could get opportunities within our spin department."

Capel added the club are already making moves to bolster their squad.

"There could be some recruitment and we are making strides in that direction," he said.

"Nicky (Boje) didn't bowl very much last year, not as much perhaps as he could do, so he will be taking up a heavier workload."
