 Boje took 100 Test wickets plus 96 from 115 one-day internationals |
South African left-arm spinner Nicky Boje will return to Northamptonshire for the 2008 season. The 34-year-old, who played the last of his 43 Tests in August 2006, spent a month with Northants last season. In four Championship matches he took 16 wickets and also impressed with the bat by scoring 125 against Leicestershire. "I was easily persuaded by the club to make the move on a longer-term basis," said Boje, who will link up with new signing and compatriot Andrew Hall. "I look forward to being a part of a very strong squad in 2008," Boje added. | 606: DEBATE |
Boje will not count as an overseas player because of the terms of the Kolpak working agreement. The Kolpak ruling, which dates back to 2003, states that "any citizen of a country with an associate agreement" with the European Union has the same rights as a European worker.
