Middlesex will not be appointing a new director of cricket, despite John Emburey's departure.

The 55-year-old former England international left the club on Monday to further his coaching career.

Emburey took over as first team coach at Middlesex in 2001 but moved upstairs to the role of director in 2007.

Chief executive Vinnie Codrington told BBC London: "We'll have a review of the club's structure to see how we'll move forward for the next five years."

The former Middlesex batsman Toby Radford continues in his role as first team coach and there will not be a reshuffle of the current staff to accomodate the position left vacant by Emburey.

Codrington added: "Toby will remain in charge of first team affairs but for this season, at least, there will be a cricket advisory panel in place."

Middlesex, who finished third in Division Two of the County Championship last year, begin the 2008 season at Grace Road against Leicestershire.
