Leicestershire have completed the signing of New Zealand's Iain O'Brien as an overseas player for next season. The 32-year-old paceman will play for the Black Caps in their three-Test series at home to India before joining up with his team-mates at Grace Road. Chief executive David Smith told BBC Radio Leicester: "We've been told Iain will be an excellent role model. "He's supposed to be quite a character too and I'm keen to continue bringing New Zealand players to the club." O'Brien will arrive at Leicestershire on Monday 13 April, only two days before their opening County Championship match against Northamptonshire. He has played 14 Tests and enjoyed his best bowling figures in his last appearance for the Black Caps, taking 6-75 against West Indies. Smith said he will continue to look for Kiwi players to represent the club. He added: "It's a route I'm keen to explore. "Having played club cricket in New Zealand for a couple of years, I do believe they can bring other assets to the club."
