Mahmood scored 20 in Kent's seven-wicket victory over Gloucestershire |
Kent all-rounder Azhar Mahmood says Kent have been "brilliant" in moving to the brink of the t20 quarter-finals. Kent's seven-wicket victory over Gloucestershire means one more win should put them into the last eight. The 36-year-old told BBC Radio Kent: "It's tough when you lose two games up front but it's a winning habit, you start believing in yourself. "Apart from those two games and the Hampshire game we've been brilliant in the Twenty20 competition." Gloucestershire made 115 for 4 from their 15 overs but after two rain interruptions, Kent were set a revised target of 76 from 10 overs, which they reached with five balls to spare. | This group is always a tough group, everyone is the same apart from Hampshire |
Mahmood added: "It's tough but as professional cricketers you have to deal with it (the rain). "We're playing in England, not in Pakistan. We know we have to keep up with the run rate." Kent have now won seven of their 13 group games and are third in the South Group. "This group is always a tough group, everyone is the same apart from Hampshire," Mahmood said. "We have to win every single game, concentrate on every single game, our run rate is low so we will try and win every game from now on. "We just need to believe in ourselves. Everyone is doing well with the ball and the bat and you never know. On final's day, if it's your day, you never know and this side is working really well."
