James Hockley was asked to return to Kent by captain Rob Key |
Kent have released batsman James Hockley from his second spell at the St Lawrence Ground. The 31-year-old rejoined Kent in 2009 but has only played five championship matches, two one-day games and six Twenty20 games this season. He had previously played for Kent between 1998 and 2002. "He has been an excellent squad player and worked hard in his second attempt at county cricket," said Kent team director Paul Farbrace. "The time is now right for James to move on and concentrate on his teaching career." After leaving the county in 2002, Hockley earned a living from teaching and continued to play cricket at club level. He is the third player to be released this season following the departures of Warren Lee and Rob Ferley.
