Martin van Jaarsveld is unsure if he will make Kent's team for the Twenty20 Cup finals on Saturday. The South African batsman has been in great form in the County Championship and limited overs Friends Provident Trophy with seven centuries this year. But he told BBC Radio Kent his record in Twenty20 may not be good enough for the defending champions. "If management feel I have to sit out instead of someone else I'll have a lot of peace with that decision," he said. But regardless of who plays, Van Jaarsveld believes Kent have the ability to retain the trophy. | I'll play if I've only got one leg |
"Twenty20 is such a gamble , someone can take the game away from you, but hopefully that bloke's going to be on our side," he added. "We've got some big gun players - Azhar Mahmood's been phenomenal, so has Yasir Arafat and Darren Stevens. "You name them - our opening combination of Rob Key and Joe Denly, if they can get us off to a good start then anything can happen. Meanwhile, all-rounder Darren Stevens is confident he will be fit in time to return to the Kent side. "I'll play if I've only got one leg," he said. "I have got a little tear in the top of my groin but I've had a lot of rest and a lot of physio. I've had a little run round and a hit today and it feels a lot better so I should be alright for Saturday." BBC Radio Kent have ball-by-ball commentary of Kent v Essex on 774MW, DAB Digital Radio and bbc.co.uk/kent from 1115 BST on Saturday.
