Yasir returns after a successful first season for Kent |
Pakistan all-rounder Yasir Arafat has been confirmed as Kent's overseas player for the 2008 season. Arafat was second-highest wicket taker in Kent's Twenty20 winning team and hit his highest ever first-class score in his first spell with Kent last year. "We are delighted that Yasir is coming back. He made an immense contribution to the playing squad last year," said Kent's director of cricket Graham Ford. The 26-year-old signed for the entire season, barring international calls. Arafat said: "It's great news that I've received clearance from the Pakistan Board to play for Kent again. I really enjoyed my time with them last year and am excited about the prospects for 2008." The Pakistan international took 27 wickets for Kent in the County Championship last year, as well as hitting 122 against his former county Sussex - his first-class best. He also played for Pakistan in the ICC World Twenty20 last summer and was subsequently picked for his Test debut.
