Hampshire manager Giles White considers Barbados trip
Giles White was first appointed as Hampshire manager in October 2008
Hampshire could compete in a pre-season T20 competition in Barbados in March.
Team manager Giles White visited Barbados earlier this week to inspect the facilities as he ponders whether to accept an invitation.
"I'm impressed with what I saw," White told BBC Radio Solent. "It looked great. So it might be an option for us.
"But it comes down to a financial decision and what's best for the club. Barbados are keen for us to take part but there are other options."
It would mean a second trip to the Caribbean in two months for Hampshire, who, along with Somerset, have accepted another T20 invitation from the West Indies Cricket Board in January.
White added: "The facilities I've seen are very good and we'd get to play other counties out there, as well as Trinidad and Barbados.
"Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Essex took part in a similar competition last year and the feedback they've given is that it worked well for them."
Hampshire have spent their last two pre-season campaigns in Cape Town, but White admits that it would benefit his team to play somewhere different.
"We do need a change, a change of scenery and a change in venue," he added. "We have other options in the West Indies or Africa so we'll have to wait and see.
"I'm looking to make a decision in the next month, late November in ideal world."
