Carberry made his England debut on the tour of Bangladesh |
Hampshire batsman Michael Carberry is still under the consideration of the England selectors, according to his county coach Giles White. Carberry scored 158 against Kent on his return to the side after being left out of Hampshire's previous seven matches. He made his only Test appearance for England in Bangladesh in March, scoring 30 and 34 in Chittagong. White told BBC Radio Solent: "If he carries on scoring runs, they'll have to take notice of him." England selector James Whitaker was at the Rose Bowl during the County Championship game with Kent, although missed the main part of Carberry's innings of 158. "The selectors were asking plenty of questions about Carbs. They're obviously showing an interest in him," White added. Carberry has been a regular member of the England Lions side, although was left out of the current squad for the Tri-Nations series against India A and West Indies A. "Michael needs to keep working hard, score runs for Hampshire, and hopefully his chance with England will come around again," White said.
