Pothas criticises ECB over Vince

James Vince
Vince scored 75 on debut against Nottinghamshire at The Rose Bowl

Hampshire captain Nic Pothas has blasted the England and Wales Cricket Board over its handling of teenage batsman James Vince.

Vince, 18, scored 75 on his County Championship debut in the defeat to Nottinghamshire at The Rose Bowl.

But he is unavailable for the next month as he has been called into the England Under-18 squad.

Pothas told BBC Radio Solent: "The ECB have covered themselves in glory again. He should be playing county cricket."

The wicketkeeper added: "James is a superb talent. He is a totally unflappable character, and an outstanding batsman.

"It's very unfortunate that we'll be without him for a month as soon as he's got himself into the team."
