Michael Lumb's ton at The Rose Bowl was Hampshire's best in Twenty20 |
Hampshire batsman Michael Lumb was keen to play down his record-breaking Twenty20 Cup innings, in the Hawks' 75-run win over Essex. Lumb smashed an unbeaten 124 from just 69 balls to become Hampshire's first Twenty20 centurion. He told BBC Radio Solent: "It's obviously a special innings for me, but the main thing is the team is winning. "We're playing some great cricket at the moment and, hopefully, we can take that into the four-day matches." Lumb has scored 228 runs in this season's Twenty20 Cup, at an average of 45.60. He has the highest strike-rate in the country at 164 runs per 100 balls. Hampshire now face three back-to-back LV County Championship matches, beginning at Durham on Saturday. That is followed by a visit from Nottinghamshire, and a trip to face Lancashire.
