North could miss out on playing for Hampshire |
Hampshire could start the new domestic cricket season next month without overseas player Marcus North. He has been called up to the Australia squad for the one-day and Twenty20 games against South Africa in place of Adam Voges, who is getting married. North had been left out of the original squad despite scoring a century during the Test series between the sides. Hampshire are currently in South Africa on a pre-season trip and will be gauging the all-rounder's availability. North had been due to join Hampshire for the first part of the season, with spinner Imran Tahir returning after completing his club commitments in South Africa. Australia's final Test in South Africa starts on Thursday, with the one-day matches taking place between 27 March and 17 April. Hampshire's County Championship season begins on 15 April with a home match against Worcestershire.
