Hampshire will recover the cost of erecting their floodlights |
Hampshire are to recover the cost of erecting floodlights at the Rose Bowl. Under an England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) grant, counties will receive 9m in total towards installing lights at their grounds.
Hampshire were the first northern hemisphere venue to erect permanent world-class lights at a cost of 500,000 two years ago.
"We're delighted the grant is backdated," Rose Bowl chief executive Glenn Delve told BBC Radio Solent.
"The fact we've already spent the money in no way disadvantages us.
"We will still get the grant that is being issued for those floodlights so I'm delighted for the game and delighted for ourselves."
Under a total of 30m worth of grant announced by the ECB, 6m has been earmarked for improved drainage at international venues.
"Our understanding is this will include the Rose Bowl. They have a model at Lords but it may not suit every ground," added Delve.
"My understanding is that they are still working with the contractors to come up with a recommended system and we'll wait to see what that is before deciding if it will suit the Rose Bowl."
The ECB grant includes funds for grassroots cricket, women's cricket and improved coaching.
