Noffke will deputise at Middlesex until Murali Kartik arrives |
Hampshire are still searching for an overseas player for the start of the 2008 campaign, after Ashley Noffke joined Middlesex on a short-term deal. BBC Radio Solent understands that the Australian pace bowler was high on Hampshire's shortlist to act as cover for skipper Shane Warne.
Warne will miss the start of the county season due to overseas commitments, including a sponsored poker event.
Noffke has signed a two-month deal to begin the season with Middlesex.
"I'm delighted to be re-joining Middlesex for the start of the season," said Noffke.
"As soon as I knew the club were interested, it wasn't a hard decision to decide where I wanted to play."
New rules for the 2008 English domestic season mean that counties are only allowed one overseas player at any one time.
