Norwell is also in the national Elite Player Development squad
Gloucestershire bowler Liam Norwell has set his sites on a first team place after featuring in his first Twenty20 cup match.
The 18-year-old from Redruth was 12th man for the Gladiators in their seven-wicket defeat to Essex on Thursday.
"It was quite surreal, I wasn't sure what to expect but it was a great atmosphere and I really enjoyed it," Norwell told BBC Radio Gloucestershire.
"Hopefully I'll get a few more opportunities in the future," he added.
"I've just got to take everything one step at a time."
Norwell, who has just finished his A levels, has signed a two-year contract and is delaying the option of going to university in a bid for a career as a professional cricketer.
He faces stiff competition to get in to the Gloucestershire side, which already boasts internationals in Jon Lewis, James Franklin and Anthony Ireland, as well as contender Steve Kirby and Gemaal Hussain who has been the county's golden arm this season.
"They've all been great help," Norwell said.
"Ant Ireland - I've played quite a bit with him in the seconds this year and he's helped me grow in confidence and just helped me with different techniques.
"Steve Kirby and Jon Lewis are two great experienced pros at the club and I can learn everything from them. I've just got to keep working and hope I can get up to their standard one day."
