Drew has joined Gloucestershire for just two Pro40 matches. |
Gloucestershire team mentor Jack Russell believes seam bowler Brendan Drew will prove a worthwhile signing. Drew made an unconvincing debut in Wednesday's win over Middlesex, and will play at Worcester on Saturday. The Australian bowled seven overs without success for 50 runs, but Russell was not surprised. "It's hard to expect someone to just turn up and play. He was nervous so hopefully on Saturday he'll be bang on track," Russell told the BBC. Drew has spent the summer playing for Lowerhouse in the Lancashire League but has previously represented Tasmania at state level in Australia. "He bowled some good balls in patches, and he's a big lad - a proper cricketer if you like. "He can bowl, field and bat. He's a typical Aussie - they know what they're doing," Russell added.
