Lewis and Gloucestershire finished 6th in the Pro40 last year |
Gloucestershire captain Jon Lewis says his side can put a disappointing season so far aside and win the Pro40 league. The Gladiators begin their Division One campaign against Lancashire at Old Trafford on Thursday. "Our form hasn't been as good as we'd like, but this is a fresh competition and we're looking to win it," Lewis told BBC Radio Bristol. "We scored a lot of runs in the Pro40 last year, but our bowling is something we could improve on." | It's important we show a lot of fight and spirit as we've got a lot of tough cricket coming up. | After losing in the quarter-final of the Friends Provident Trophy and failing to make the knock-out stage of the Twenty20 Cup, Lewis is looking for improvement in the last one-day competition of the summer. "It's important we get off to a good start in this competition because there are only eight games. "We've played very well against these guys [Lancashire] in the past in one day cricket and I think we've won our last two games up at Old Trafford," he added. "It's important we show a lot of fight and spirit as we've got a lot of tough cricket coming up."
