Fast bowler Andrew Harris says the lure of first-team cricket persuaded him to join Gloucestershire on loan.

The 34-year-old has found opportunities hard to come by this season at his current side Nottinghamshire.

He told BBC Radio Gloucestershire, "I've been looking to go out on loan just because I want to be playing first class cricket."

"I'm 34 now, and I want to be performing at the highest level for as long as possible."

Harris added: "So I looked at going out on loan, and I got the phone call through from Jack Russell, they approached Nottinghamshire who said it's fine for Jack to speak to me about the possibility of going out on loan, and here I am now.

Harris has hinted he might not play for Gloucestershire when they face Nottinghamshire in the Pro40 league in August.

Harris added: "If I do come up against the Notts lads, I'll take that as it comes.

"I'll certainly be looking to put one over on them if that comes about because I'm sure they'll be looking to put one over me!

"But if we are due to play Nottinghamshire, perhaps I'll sit that one out."
