Matthew Maynard has welcomed the fact that his side must beat Derbyshire in the County Championship next week to win promotion to Division One. Glamorgan drew with Surrey while rivals Worcestershire fought back to beat Middlesex at Lord's, sending the promotion battle to the wire. Maynard told BBC Sport Wales: "It's a very clear thing for the players. "They'll know exactly what they have to do and that's to win that game and we'll be very much focused on that." Derbyshire, who Glamorgan face in four-day game starting on Monday are bottom of Division Two while Worcestershire host Sussex. Maynard added: "I think from the players' point of view it will give them more clarity about what's required [against Derbyshire] so it could be a good thing." The Glamorgan cricket director praised Worcestershire's efforts against Middlesex, saying: "It was a terrific result for Worcester. "Since we beat them in Colwyn Bay they've played some excellent cricket in both forms of the game and they must be full of confidence having won from that position against Middlesex. "It's all hands to the deck for next week, which we thought it might be."
