Home form has been good, despite the failures of Glamorgan's campaign |
Glamorgan director of cricket Matthew Maynard says he is desperate for two home wins to conclude his side's Friends Provident Twenty20 campaign. "We'll go all out to win our two remaining home games," said Maynard. "The crowd in Cardiff have been magnificent and we want to put in two top performances to cement the Swalec Stadium as a stronghold." Sunday's defeat at Kent means that the Welsh county's hopes of making the knock-out stages are all-but dead. "It was won and lost in the field," Maynard told BBC Sport Wales after the Canterbury defeat. "We were probably 15 runs shy with the bat, but ultimately the fielding cost us. "It was a defendable total, we got them up to eight runs an over. "But there were four dropped catches and there are no excuses for that. "There were a couple of sitters and that set the tone for the innings." The gruelling 16-match Twenty20 group stages have come in for plenty of criticism and Maynard said this might be looked at next season. "It's been long for the fans and the public ultimately determine how long a tournament is, not the coaches," said Maynard. "Attendances have been dwindling - apart from at the Swalec, actually. "We'll have to see what the ECB do for next season." The Dragons have named an unchanged 13-man squad for Wednesday's match against Somerset.
