South Africa batsman Herschelle Gibbs has agreed to rejoin Glamorgan for most of the 2009 campaign. The 34-year-old batsman played for the Dragons in last summer's Twenty20 Cup but has re-signed for July, August and September with an option to extend. "I'm really excited about returning to Glamorgan, joining the team for the Twenty20 Cup last season was a great experience," Gibbs said. "I am looking forward to having more time to play with Glamorgan." South Africa recently dropped Gibbs for breaking a team curfew before a Twenty20 match against Bangladesh earlier this month. | Herschelle made a great impression on the team in 2008 Glamorgan cricket manager Matthew Maynard | The player, who had recently split with his wife of one year, was also required to attend an alcohol rehabilitation course. But after leaving the Proteas' tour, Gibbs is back playing with club side Cape Cobras in South Africa's SuperSport Series. Gibbs hopes to earn a recall to the South Africa side and has commitments to play in the Indian Premier League in May. Glamorgan cricket manager Matthew Maynard is sure that Gibbs will get back to his best in time for the Welsh county's season. "I am absolutely delighted about Herschelle returning to the club, he made a great impression on the team in 2008 and he is an inspirational player to add to the squad," Maynard said. "Herschelle is a typical example of the cricketing experience that we are looking to sign to the club and I'm thrilled that he is joining us next season."
