Glamorgan want their case for a place in the Twenty20 Cup quarter-finals to be re-examined at a hearing on Monday. Yorkshire are appealing against their expulsion for fielding an ineligible player, a decision that prompted Notts' inclusion in the knock-out stages. Glamorgan chairman Paul Russell says there is no logic to Notts being awarded the points. Russell will address the England and Wales Cricket Board. "I'll do so with all the vigour I can muster," he said. Russell was surprised at the decision to throw Yorkshire out of the competition after they fielded Azeem Rafiq, who was ineligible, in a group match against Notts. But while Yorkshire make their appeal at Taunton, Russell says Glamorgan will make their case after not being represented at the initial disciplinary hearing at which, he claims, Notts and Durham had the opportunity to do so. "Clearly I'm disappointed because there was a chance Glamorgan could reach the quarter-final," he told BBC Wales. | 606: DEBATE | "I'm surprised at the severity of the punishment to Yorkshire and I'm surprised that it's Notts who are taking their place. "Without knowing the details, I'm surprised that a side with nine points has gone through to the quarter-final when Glamorgan have 10 points." Pakistan-born Rafiq, 17, played for Yorkshire in the crucial North Division group match against the Notts last month. But he had not been registered as a first-teamer, and it later emerged that he does not hold a British passport. Notts, beaten by nine wickets in that match, now face Durham in the last eight at Chester-le-Street. The Tykes' quarter-final against Durham on Monday was postponed at the England and Wales Cricket Board's request after they learned Rafiq was ineligible to play first-team matches. Yorkshire's fate was decided by an ECB disciplinary panel which met at Lancashire's Old Trafford HQ on Thursday. Russell added: "It sets you on a very important precedence that you treat the registration of players flippantly at your peril."
