Maynard dragged Glamorgan into contention after a bad start |
Glamorgan began their 2008 season with a 14-run loss against Sussex in a 50-over friendly at Hove. The Welsh county looked to be heading for a heavy defeat chasing Sussex's 231-9, before a fine 77 from 66 balls by Tom Maynard pulled them back. Mike Powell made 37 on his comeback, then Maynard and Dean Cosker added 80 for the ninth wicket, but the visitors were eventually despatched for 217. Ryan Watkins was the most impressive Glamorgan bowler with five for 56. | 606: DEBATE |
Jamie Dalrymple claimed two wickets, the spinner making his Glamorgan debut along with opening batsman Matthew Wood and pace bowler Adam Shantry. The two sides meet again on Tuesday in another 50-over contest.
