Jones will not rush his comeback from serious injury |
England paceman Simon Jones has been left out of Glamorgan's squad for their opening LV County Championship game. The 28-year-old returned to competitive action with 3-56 from 10 overs in the Welsh county's Friends Provident Trophy defeat to Somerset on Sunday.
But after a year out and two knee operations he will not be risked in the four-day game with Essex at Chelmsford.
"I'm looking to play as much as I can for Glamorgan, but I'm not going to push it too much," said Jones.
"I'm not going to be stupid and play in every single game. I've got to ease my way back."
With Jones absent, Glamorgan have named the same 12-man squad that defeated Oxford University last week.
