Franklin is expected to make his debut on Sunday |
Kiwi signing James Franklin finally signed his Glamorgan contract after passing a medical on Thursday. The Welsh county were keen to check out ligament damage in the all-rounder's knee, which was initially thought to have ended his season.
Franklin, 25, should now play in the Cheltenham & Gloucester Trophy game away to Gloucestershire on 28 May.
But Glamorgan's other overseas player, Mark Cosgrove, could be doubtful after hurting his back at Worcestershire.
The burly Australian left-hander retired hurt early in Glamorgan's second innings of their County Championship tie.
Glamorgan have pledged to keep a careful eye on Franklin's problem knee over the season.
"It's been a bit of a turnaround after thinking I was going to have surgery and stay in New Zealand," Franklin said.
"But now I'm ready to play the rest of the County Championship season.
"[Glamorgan physio] Chris Towers has had a good look at the knee and he is pretty happy with it.
"I'll put it though its paces over the next few days and I'm confident I'll shape up after that."
