Glamorgan are considering a move for a second overseas player as they have lost Mike Kasprowicz for the summer. The Australian has been named in both his country's one-day and Test squad for the Ashes tour.
With Matthew Maynard, Alex Wharf and Simon Jones expected on England duty, Glamorgan's resources are stretched.
"We're not in the market for a second overseas player yet, but we are looking around the world and have that option," said Glamorgan captain Robert Croft.
"Mike had a fantastic winter with Australia and we've been expecting to lose him for a while.
"We're very proud of him, he's a fantastic cricketer, but for Glamorgan as a team it's a disappointment.
"We have strength in depth with our seam bowlers. We could lose a few to England, but that won't be until over a month into the season."
Glamorgan's other overseas player is Australian opening batsman Matthew Elliott, and a second recruit would be expected to be a bowler.
Another Australian, fast-medium bowler Michael Lewis, joined the Welsh county for a short period last summer when Kasprowicz was on international duty.
Glamorgan batsman Matthew Maynard has denied newspaper reports that he has applied for the post as the next director of the English Cricket Academy.
