Kasprowicz is expected to make next year's Ashes tour |
Glamorgan have re-signed Australian Test bowler Mike Kasprowicz on a one-year deal for next season. The paceman is expected to be selected for his country's Ashes tour of England, though, which would rule him out of the county season.
But Glamorgan have decided to offer him the contract now to stop him joining another county in case he is not picked for Australia.
Kasprowicz claims county cricket has helped revive his international career.
Another Australian, Mike Lewis, is currently deputising with Glamorgan for Kasprowicz, who is on international duty.
The Welsh county are expected to offer terms for next season to their other overseas player, Australian opening batsman Matthew Elliott.
He, too, could be wanted for the Ashes tour, although his selection is less likely than Kasprowicz's.
