Essex have organised a tour of Barbados ahead of next season's County Championship Division Two season. The club will be in the Caribbean between 14 and 25 March before their first competitive match of the campaign against Kent on 8 April. "Travelling to Barbados will prove to be valuable for our pre-season," said head coach Paul Grayson. "This will definitely give us an opportunity to do fitness work, ball skills and some match play." Essex took part in a tour of the Caribbean in March 2010 with fellow county sides Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Lancashire. | Training in this great environment will make sure we are in good condition |
"The tour last year was a huge success and proved to be excellent preparation for the following 2010 season, so having another again this year was important," Grayson added. "Training in this great environment will make sure we are in good condition and will enable us to do things that we could not do at home.
