Kaneria has taken 74 career wickets in Twenty20

Spinner Danish Kaneria is available to Essex for the remainder of the domestic season after being dropped by Pakistan.

Kaneria, 29, and West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo will be the club's two overseas players for Saturday's Friends Provident t20 finals.

"It's bad I'm not with Pakistan but I'm delighted to be back with Essex," Kaneria told BBC Essex.

"I've got a NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the Pakistan Cricket Board and I'm willing to play."

The bowler was told he was no longer needed by his country for the series against England after a heavy defeat in the first Test match.

Essex face Hampshire in the t20 semi-finals at the Rose Bowl this weekend and Kaneria's return will be a boost to their chances.

The competition has been good to the spinner this season, with a record of 16 wickets in 10 matches.
